Mkaya Carrigan, the proud founder of CAYA, had her dance career rerouted due to injury. No longer able to dance professionally, she seized the opportunity to travel and further study the arts, where she discovered that movement was not only a powerful expressive form, but the international language of catharsis.

She then returned to University in the UK and studied Dance Therapy (PGDip) and Strength & Conditioning (L4). After years of working in the fitness industry, she specialised in the Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health (MSc) and the CAYA method was born.
Throughout Mkaya’s years in the fitness industry, she saw her clients often overwhelmed by the task of feeling well. She wanted to unburden people from fractured wellness routines and knew that the most transcendent benefits of movement lay in letting go of structure, cranking up the music, and moving instinctively. So she dove into science and created CAYA: a method built from her soul, grounded in science, and powered by rhythm.
